WeldWerks Brewing Co. Coffee Coconut Stout
Aroma: “Fresh-baked coconut macarons, toasted coconut, vanilla, and light alcohol lend a liqueur aroma. Coconut butter aroma reminds me of the beach. All kinds of coconut nuances and coffee dominate. It’s an interesting combination, but the coffee might be a little too bright.”
Flavor: “The base beer has some nice roast and chocolate, which carries the toasted coconut and coffee. There’s some nice dark chocolate, giving it a Mounds bar flavor. Strong roasted barley, with some nice fruity esters. A bit of roasty bitterness on the finish that helps balance out the sweetness, and it has a nice creamy feel without being overly sweet.”
Overall: “This beer is targeted to the coconut lover. Love the dark chocolate and coconut, but the roast on the coffee feels a bit out of balance. It’s a great idea, but a little tweaking might improve it.”
