Jester King Brewery Repose
Aroma: “A boozy initial aroma with some tannin and vinous aromas, and little hops aroma. Some funky aroma on the nose after the sweetness subsides. Peanut butter and banana sandwich, with orange in the background and a bit of biscuit malt and oak. Lots of sweet fruits that include some cherry, apple, apricot, dates, and wine.”
Flavor: “A sharp sweetness up front that sticks through the dry, crisp finish. Peanut butter, orange, passion fruit, and banana, with hints of cherry, apple, tart pineapple, and sweet vermouth. Milk funk from the wood that adds complexity.”
Overall: “The malty rich peanut butter flavor is an interesting combination with the flavor profile, fermentation characteristics, and the finish. The sour notes were a little over the top, almost giving it a harsh alcohol characteristic. But overall, the flavors came together well.”
