What it is: One of the more “authentic” experiences in a city known for excess and artifice, the Silver Stamp is simple, in a way: a beer bar, operated by beer lovers, with an impeccably curated beer menu. It’s also a nondescript dive filled with 20th-century beer ephemera, evoking an Elks Lodge on an ayahuasca journey, dark but dripping in colors, with quirky nods to the past. Twenty taps, a mid-sized but nuanced bottle list, no liquor, vinyl upholstered booths, and bartenders who obviously love beer as much as they enjoy serving it—it’s great beer and great service in a place that just feels cool. It doesn’t look like anything at all on the outside, but take one step inside and—like in many places in Vegas—time just melts away.

Why it’s great: The selection itself is constantly changing, as you’d expect, but here they pay particular attention to European classics and deep cuts rather than simply riding the domestic hype currents. Belgian abbey ales and lambic, consistent kölsch, a few IPAs from the regular suspects, 750s of saison from unexpected places—it’s a lineup crafted by folks who really know and love beer. As a result, beer nerds from Sin City and visitors from around the world have made it a regular haunt. Over the past year, I’ve spent six nights in Las Vegas. I ended up at the Silver Stamp on four of them.
