Absolution Brewing Co Juice Demon (2023)

What the brewers say

"A hazy IPA with Strata, Citra and El Dorado that is demonically juicy!"

What our panel thought

"Deep hazy yellow with a well structured white head. Big mid ferm dry hop aromas. Linalool, blueberry, and lavender. Ripe tropical fruit aromas leap from the glass. Some citrus peel and orange aromas. Bright and sweaty tropical fruit flavors float on top of a soft malt structure. Slight green apple and diesel notes. Gentle sulfitic aromas mixed in. Moderate sweetness throughout with a pithy finish. The hop flavors diminish on the finish and leave it a touch sweet."

What our editors thought

"Peach and pineapple aromas with herbal and grassy hops providing significant contrast, and a chalky candy fruit note underneath. Significantly sweet in the sip with light pineapple tropical tart notes, but not much hop bitterness. Body and sweetness are heightened by the lower carbonation. Nice flavors, a bit heavy and soft, but endearing."

REVIEWS FOR YOU >

Lumen Beer Company Slice

“Orange bomb that makes your mouth water. Clementine spritz, creamsicle. Flavor hits with super-thick orange marmalade, guava, pineapple. A little bitterness catches on the back of the throat after bursting, then melting with viscous sunshine in the mouth.”

Break Even Beermakers Hundred Percent: Strata

“Piney aroma suggests resinous flavor, while citrus turns into tropical and lightly juicy on the tongue. Dare we add ... dank? Lean but muscular body. Restrained hop bitterness, in a 2024 kind of way.”

Twin Span Brewing 80 East

Soft and pale haze on the pour. Light haze, good head. Strong hop aroma dominates: Overripe tropical fruit, light green onion. Bubblegum on the nose with soft notes of peach and light citrus. Low grainy sweet and bready malt. Lightly sweet bready malt with light notes of biscuit and pie crust. Robust yet soft malt structure with a light flavor profile of stone fruit, cotton candy and lingering citrus. Hop flavors aid with some sweet tropical flavors mango, peach candy, hints of vanilla. Quite low bitterness overall, simulating a bit of a fruit beer quality in this hazy. Finish a touch sweet with solid tropical flavors and a note of grass in the finish. Lovely smoothness in drinkability makes this a repeat order. Hop aromas and flavors are unusual and new. A touch of elevated sweetness cuts through. Semi dry finish with candy like sweetness popping through.
