What the brewers say

“2017, 2018, 2019 Rey Gordo blended and barrel-aged.”

What our panel thought

“Nose is wine-like, spicy, earthy, with dark chocolate, bit of spirit, caramel, hints of apricot. The smooth, creamy sip is sweet chocolate with some umami, big toffee, lots of dark fruit, dark molasses.”

What our editors thought

“Monstrously large nose as hefty umami tones weave through bourbon threads with some ruby jewel-toned vinous notes. The sip leans heavily in that vinous direction, sweet yet light with minimal bitterness to counter the big, overpowering dark-fruit character.”
