What the brewers say

“Baltic porter … lagered in Four Roses and Pinhook Rye barrels for 11 months … conditioned on both coconut and vanilla.”

What our panel thought

“Layers of chocolate, vanilla, cotton candy, dried sultanas, and whiskey in the nose. Spice, chocolate, and vanilla, with a boozy heat on the finish. Overall, the sip misses the velvety richness suggested by the nose.”

What our editors thought

“Sweet but faint tropical notes in the nose—pineapple, vanilla, coconut. The sip is surprisingly restrained, as those sweeter flavors intertwine with the dark malt without the dessert excess of similar ales.”
