What the brewers say

“Oak-fermented wild saison with peaches, lemon juice. Dry-hopped with HBC 586, Citra, Lemon Drop.”

What our panel thought

“Light Meyer lemon in the aroma. On the sip, medium-sweet peach with mildly puckering fresh lemon juice, balanced with a slight background sweetness and restrained sourness. The light fruitiness left on the tongue quickly dissipates. A very rounded, highly approachable, pleasant sour.”

What our editors thought

“Strong sculpted peach aroma with fresh lemon top-notes and just a touch of herbal structure behind the fruit. A bit of rainstorm petrichor adds a certain gravitas. It’s light and cocktail-like in the flavor, as a familiar lemon-herbal note brightens and defines the stone fruit without losing its zip. A bit of Arnold Palmer lemonade-tea blend takes hold toward the finish, as a tad more malt sweetness creeps past the herbal barrier. But the tight definition and incessant energy make for a beer that’s both easy to drink and deeply engaging.”

Funky Fauna Artisan Ales Strictly Fiction

“Tropical punch notes in the aroma alongside some subtle hints of leather and oak. The flavors are reminiscent of peach nectar combined with a strawberry-like acidity, creating a tartness that throws the impression of syrupy sweet. Wonderful combo.”

Funky Fauna Artisan Ales Florific

“With an aroma of tart lemon zest, this has a light acidity that mingles nicely with the IPA hops. In the flavor: lemongrass, catty notes, citrus zest, spicy goatiness, and a sharp, overripe fruit alongside notes of hay, dried apricot, horse blanket. Low levels of sour tartness. Prickly finishing bitterness. Finishes well-balanced and refreshing.”

Prairie Artisan Ales Funky Gold Amarillo

**Aroma:** “Moderate tartness up front, with a nice citrus hops profile (lemon, orange, and grapefruit) and light spiciness. Some fresh hops character, but it sits in the back to the sour.” **Flavor:** “Tart and refreshing. The lemon, mango, and melon fruit sweetness hits with the high sourness and tartness up front, which adds some fruit complexity. The hops provide some complexity in the middle with some spice and citrus notes. Good carbonation brings out the tartness almost to the point of being harsh, and nice refreshing finish.” **Overall:** “Bold and enjoyable. This beer has layers of flavors, nice carbonation, and strong tartness without being overpowering. An explosive array of different tropical flavors with balanced tartness makes this very intriguing.”
