What the brewers say

Named for the Euphrates River and decorated with a modern rendition of a Anubis the Egyptian god of the dead.

Rested on a delicate Gesha Coffee from Little Wolf Coffee Roasters, this variant of our Anniversary blend is sure to impress those who enjoy a less traditional coffee stout!

For this blend we took a golden stout and three Russian imperial stouts that were aged in Jamaican Rum Barrels, Two Willett Rye Casks, and a Heaven Hill Cask for a total age statement of 35 months.

What our panel thought

"Bold aromatics of milk chocolate, caramel, and coffee in the nose are complimented by a healthy suggestion of a boozy melange of spirits. Dark chocolate coffee bean in combination with boozy raisiny oak. The sip hits first with a nice sweet chocolate note that fades into a lightly bitter roasted coffee flavor like a nice mocha. As that bittersweet flavor fades, the oaky booze notes emerge, with hints of vanilla, rum, and whiskey, and that boozy heat lingers into the finish. Very low carbonation, remains warm without being hot."

What our editors thought

"Bits of honey, Turkish coffee, rich cacao, pistachio, and even a bit of raspberry in the aroma. Smooth yet not overdone in the flavor, as the honey-nut notes push forward with just a hint of coffee, and the delightfully edited body provides just enough support without excessive sweetness or heft."
