Maplewood Brewing Company Fizzle Drizzle Cherry Limeade
What the brewers say
“American sour fruit beer, fermented using a lactic-acid producing Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, along with cherry, key lime, and a touch of lactose.”
What our panel thought
“The beer pours a bold ruby-red with an off-white foam that has hints of pink. Smells like a Sonic cherry limeade, complete with the prickly bit from the carbonation. Intensely sour, but also intensely sweet—almost entering the orbit of cherry syrup. Limeade and Jolly Rancher cherry. No real malt character. Full in the mouth, but not cloying. The alcohol is very present, but in line with the aggressive sweet and sour flavors. Finish is sour and full of cherry-citrus flavor that lingers on the tongue.”
What our editors thought
“Intense cherry limeade in the nose, tightly tracking the Sonic Drive-In inspiration. The flavor feels heftier than expected, with thick cherry notes and lime highlights for an unexpected dose of grounded, earthy richness with high-key glints.”
