What the brewers say

“A blend of two English barleywine recipes aged in bourbon, whiskey, and maple bourbon barrels. Our first blended barleywine expression.”

What our panel thought

“Deep brown pour leaning toward light black. Roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and dried-fruit notes mingle nicely in a bourbon-forward nose to create a dark but inviting introduction. The flavor is equally inviting and rich with caramel, vanilla, marshmallow, and chocolate. A rich warming alcohol presence floats throughout. The moderate heft of the mouthfeel creates a sense of decadence and helps to enhance the overall experience.”

What our editors thought

“Boozy wood and coconut/vanilla on the nose with a touch of stroopwafel. The body is deep and layered with caramel and even chocolate notes that create depth and interest. It’s bold, rich, and sweet, but with enough bitterness and rich layers for ponderous depth.”
