What the brewers say

“Zesty citrus and sweet-corn flavors. Golden maltiness and Saaz hops.”

What our panel thought

“Clean, well fermented, with a light hand of zesty lime—enough to be evident but not distract. Malt dominates with soft white bread. A hint of macro malt-and-corn in the flavor keeps it true to style. The lime works well, brightens this up a bit. Enjoyably drinkable. Casual and easy.”

What our editors thought

“Sweetish malt nose with subtle fragrant stone-fruit esters. Very light hops provide a faint herbal contrast to peachy sweet malt, while the carbonation does the heavy lifting for balance.”

Anchor San Franpsycho

Aroma: Medium lemon pledge and light strawberry. Light hints of sweet orange citrus followed by low graininess. Flavor: Tastes like an artificial sweetener. Like a liquid pez. Not a lot of bitterness. Does have some lemon flavor. Very low malt. Despite it tasting like candy it doesn't actually have a lot of sweetness. Finishes medium dry. Overall: An odd flavor for a beer. Needs less lemon.

KC Bier Co. Maibock

“Grainy sweet flavor with caramel and hints of floral and herbal hops that improve with warmth. Light apricot malt ester. Despite the present bitterness, surprisingly little hop flavor. Hard to believe a maibock could be too malty, but here it is.”

New Image Brewing Co Tigre Especial

“Delightfully full of character. Great white-bread aroma, sweet corn perfume, with a mineral-like carbonation. A moderate bitterness breathes some hop spiciness in there. Soft tortilla malt character finishes very clean on retronasal exhale. Venturing toward Bavarian but remains easy-drinking, easy to return to. Well attenuated and beautifully quaffable.”
