What our panel thought

Aroma: “Dark and very roasted malt aroma. Dried cherry and a bit of grassy hops. Pleasant underlying vinous character. Nice barrel character. Exceedingly carbonated, which adds a bit of bite to the nose.”

Flavor: “Baking chocolate, tons of roast, and a bit of smoke. Nice lingering dark-fruit sweetness, accentuated with hints of port character from the barrel. Nice body, but it still finishes moderately dry with a pleasant fortified wine booziness.”

Overall: “It’s missing the rich, chewy mouthfeel that allows the complex roast and sweet character to linger on the finish, but the port character adds a nice warmth at the end.”
