Aroma: “Hops aromas dominate: floral, soapy, with some coffee and milk chocolate as it warms. An odd blend of roastiness with a slight floral note, almost like a honeysuckle. Some fruitiness. The hops in this oatmeal stout dominate—earthy and floral.”

Flavor: “My tongue has been lacquered with sweet roastiness. Some interesting fruitiness to contrast with the roast and some nice sweetness to balance the intense bitterness, but roast is the star of the show with a little dark chocolate character. The creaminess in the end dances against the hops character.”

Overall: One judge noted “I love this as a black IPA but not so much as an oatmeal stout. It’s too bitter and doesn’t have enough oatmeal character for its purported style.” Another remarked “It’s an intense beer that buries the lead with an understated aroma but a monster roast, coffee, chocolate flavor.”
