What the brewers say

Bourbon-barrel-aged imperial brown ale.

What our panel thought

Rich, boozy, bourbon nose with light vanilla. Medium-sweet flavor, probably boosted by alcohol; moderate caramel and toast with a touch of cocoa powder. Light roasty notes. Big, boozy, enjoyable, despite nondescript base beer.

What our editors thought

Fruity bourbon nose with berries, red currants, red-wine grape, and a touch of pie spice. The sip is flat and broad, eschewing tight structure. Lacks heat or edges, wandering a bit aimlessly. One expects some reminder of the beer's magnitude.
