Jack's Abby Craft Lagers Calyptra

Aroma: “Strong blend of dank piney hops and heavy grapefruit rind and lemon notes. An interesting spice, with almost a peppery quality emerges out from under the heavy dose of American hops.”

Flavor: “The grapefruit hops flavor with a touch of lemon and lime suggests a citrus pith. Starts out mild but builds and locks in like a pit bull on the finish and won’t let go. Pine resins mix with an earthy bitterness, and the malt biscuit flavors add a slight sweetness, but is overpowered by the hops.”

Overall: “Needs more malt complexity and sparkle and perhaps some more carbonation. The pine and hops in this lager are heavily one-sided, so the result is unbalanced. Still, it’s easy to drink.”
