Cinderlands Warehouse Danville Train

What the brewers say

“Bready German-malt flavor with clean fermentation and Noble hops.”

What our panel thought

“Medium-low bready malt supports a light fruity aroma, featuring apricot and green grapes. Light floral hop, hint of spice. The backbone of the flavor is pie crust and light toast, with a low herbal-hop note, moderate white-wine character, and a ginger-like sting. Light golden-syrup sweetness. Medium-low bittering just balances the malt.”

What our editors thought

“Noble floral hops combine with sweet bready malt for an indulgent aroma. More refined in the sip, as the clever soft bitterness balances.”

Cinderlands Beer Co. Gregg

“Complex blast of citrus at the outset, from both hops and fermentation. Tropical pineapple, mango, tangerine. Much the same in the mouth: herbal hops, rich flavors, just enough tartness.”

Cinderlands Beer Co. Czech Them Buns

“First impression is of herbal hops, wood and pine, sweet crackers, and faint sulfur. Lightly sweet malt flavor dissipates and lets herbal, spicy hops take over. Caramel character helps balance hop character but also makes it a little too sweet for the style.”

Fort Collins Brewery Kettle-soured Dark Cherry Red

**Aroma:** “Dark fruit notes, including tart cherry, plum, raisin, and dates, with a touch of nutmeg and light sweetness. The moderate malt sweetness comes through as caramel and toast. Just a hint of acidity on the nose, with no hops aroma.” **Flavor:** “Big cherry notes, almost cherry pie, with a touch of raisin, date, and almond, and spices of cinnamon and ginger. The complex malt backbone features hints of biscuit and caramel, with bread crust flavors that only enhance the cherry-pie notes. The acidity doesn’t overpower the other flavors but is just enough to accentuate.” **Overall:** “Cherries are forward, with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg, and the crisp acidity from the *Lacto* keeps it from being cloying. Everything is well balanced and works together well to create a complex, drinkable, and very interesting beer that works in all aspects.”
