Devils Backbone Brewing Co Cross Eyed Stranger

Aroma: “Big dark fruit sweet aroma similar to a barleywine.Caramel maltiness, toffee, toasted malt, fairly strong oxidation - composty. I thought this was supposed to be a hoppy style?"

Flavor: “Heavy bitterness with a banana peal type flavor and astringency that grows well after the taste is finished. The bitterness covers up the body and perhaps what could be a touch of malt sweetness."

Overall: “Intense, perhaps off-putting, hop flavors and bitterness that distract from a decent base beer. This beer is trying to win an IBU battle that people stopped fighting years ago."
