Epic Brewing Brainless on Peaches

What the brewers say

“Secondary fermentation and maturation in French oak wine casks with organic peach puree.”

What our panel thought

“Sweet candy on the nose with subdued peach fruitiness. Divulges its peach essence in the flavor—grilled peaches, delicate smoke and oakiness, apricot. Finishes very well balanced.”

What our editors thought

“Peach skin and pit in the aroma with an almost tropical floral note. Tight in the sip, with more peach pit and a light phenol structure that spreads into softer peach as it lingers.”

Epic Brewing Brainless Belgian-style Golden Ale

“Spicy nose with some warming hints. Rich malt with light fruit, candy sugar, white-pepper notes. Hop character is an afterthought. Gets more interesting as it warms. Finish is sweeter and softer than a typical golden strong, but it’s still very pleasant.”

Fort George Brewery Topaz Pumpkin Ale

“On the nose, slightly sweet and malty with reserved spice in the background. Clean, slightly dry finish. Reminds one of a slightly spiced Octoberfest. The ‘pumpkin’ aspect is pushed way to the background.”

Pure Project Euphorik with Blackberry

Light funk on the nose. Hints of lemongrass, leather, horse blanket, wet hay, and a light stone-fruit character create a delicate, inviting aroma. An initial tart, peach-like character fades into an acidic lemon-lime flavor with hints of oak-derived tannin and light vanilla. The acidity builds quickly but also dissipates quickly.
