Allagash Brewing Company Four

Aroma: “Subtle and sophisticated on the nose. Malt sweetness balanced well with fruitiness. Well-blended mixture of cherry, peach, pear, lightly toasted malts, caramel, and slight alcohol.”

Flavor: “Delicate malt sweetness with slight toffee and some caramel. Nice fruit character (cherry, citrus, pear, apple, prune, raisin). Not a lot of hops flavor but bitterness comes through nicely with the somewhat dry, crisp finish. Nice carbonation adds to the mouthfeel and finish. Slight warmth at the end adds to the complexity.”

Overall: “The beer is finely crafted. A much less malt-forward, less rich example of the style, but incredilbly well executed. Nice subtle fruity esters complement the delicate malt bill. It’s wrapped up nicely with a dry finish and slight bitterness to balance.”
