Wicked Weed Brewing Freak of Nature

Aroma: “Earthy, citrusy, and piney hops notes. Hint of mango and melon sweetness. Light perfumey—has a fragrance to it. Citrus-fruit notes of lemon and orange, with a touch of grassiness.”

Flavor: “The hops hit in the front with this beer. Grapefruit sweetness and bitterness that carry through. Some lemon, a little onion-like character. The bitterness hits and is lingering through the finish. Malt is moderately biscuity and a bit light for the hops. Warmth hits at the end.”

Overall: “What we’d now call a classic double IPA. Loads of hops flavor (interesting melon and earthy combos) with a moderate amount of biscuity malt. Alcohol is noticeable and not offensive. Lower in hops aroma than one might expect from a double IPA, this nonetheless delivers a potent, bitter, hoppy drinking experience. The more I drink this beer, the more the juicy character develops.”
