Great Notion Brewing Trèance

What the brewers say

“Hazy double IPA brewed with Strata Hop Hash and Phantasm.”

What our panel thought

“Tropical hops with some classic orange, grapefruit, garlic, and diesel notes. Creamy, rich, with restrained bitterness; mild, simple malt presence and muddled hop flavors with a touch of hop burn. Solid orange, tangerine, mango flavors throughout. Present alcohol. Well-made, but edges need refining.”

What our editors thought

“Peach, passion fruit, and mango on the nose lead into sweet sip. Low bitterness sells the fruit juice note, with a bitter-sweet-bitter rhythm.”

Arizona Wilderness Brewing Refuge

“Sweet fruity nose of creamsicle, cranberries, and a bit of green herb. The hop flavor is much more herbal, with grapefruit pith, pine, and black currant. Very little malt character, substantial bitterness, warm alcohol flavors.”

Flying Embers Cherry Hibiscus Lime

“In the aroma, strawberry, pineapple, limeade, cherry. Cherry, lime, and raspberry in the flavor—tastes like a Sonic cherry limeade. Equally sweet and tart with a ginger-like spice to accentuate the tartness. The acid and fruit tannins create a drying effect and keep it drinkable.”

Great Notion Brewing Hedge Bier

“Citrus hops with a tart, lemon-forward impression and underlying pine notes. Clean fermentation and well balanced. Crisp, bright lager character. Finish has a slightly tart edge with a restrained bitterness. A great expression of modern hops on a classic lager backbone.”
