Loaded Question Brewing Co. Hochzeit Bier

What the brewers say

Classic, dry Octoberfest with a big bready character and a light hop aroma.

What our panel thought

Clear, orangeish to light amber in appearance with a frothy off-white head. The nose features a fruity dankness normally associated with an experimental IPA, along with caramel and dried fruit akin to a fruit roll-up. Heavy toast up front, then sweet, light caramel in the middle, while a hint of noble bitterness just keeps things in balance into the medium dry finish. Hops evolve with an earthy quality on subsequent sips.

What our editors thought

Dry and nutty on the nose with a soft oak note. The sip is, perhaps, a touch more exuberant than the refined forebears of the style, but the woody bitterness keeps the bigger malt in check.

East Brother Beer Company Red Lager

Hints of light roast, green coffee up front with notes of dried cherry, leather. Carmel comes through with a bit of dark toasted bread on the nose. Slight prune slides in toward the end of the aroma. Drinks easily with chocolate and lots of lightly roasted coffee. Some bitterness to cut the residual sweetness.

Uhl’s Brewing Co Raspricot Shleemies

“Deep pink pour. Brilliant citrus-hop nose with a soft honey note. Full body, with citrus-tropical hop juice shining all the way with a raspberry touch. Intriguing blend of hops and fruit. Pleasant acidity.”

Loaded Question Brewing Co. The Tartan

Deep black in color, a medium brown head with some good depth on it that goes the distance. Malty, roasty nose is very inviting. Very rich, luscious oat-like taste and mouthfeel, smooth, sweet with dark caramel. Creamy mouthfeel backed up by chocolate and roast that coats the tongue. Slightly sweet on the finish. A little more hop bitterness would go a long way here, but this is quite tasty. A very enjoyable beer.
