Odell Brewing Company Myrcenary

What the brewers say

Named for myrcene, a component of essential oils in the hop flower, Myrcenary Double IPA is brewed with a blend of hops containing the highest levels of myrcene. This double IPA prevails with a tropical fruit-like flavor, a pungent floral aroma, and a clean getaway.

What our panel thought

Aroma: “Complex character is prominent. Intense juiciness, tangerine, melon, slight orange, some pineapple, pine, resin, grapefruit.”

Flavor: “Great hop flavor and bitterness level. Uses a lot of Citra. Good complex fruit character carries through with notes of brown sugar, caramel, lemon zest, bread crust, toast. Bitterness works perfectly with malt and lingers slightly.”

Overall: “An amazingly juicy, hoppy beer that displays a complex hop profile and bitterness supported by a nice malt backbone. Refreshing, very drinkable DIPA. This is where the future of Imperial IPAs going.”
