New Image Brewing Co Single Barrel Intent

What the brewers say

“Barleywine aged 15 months in Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels.”

What our panel thought

“Toffee, sherry, sweet vermouth notes in the nose with an almost peaty smoke note. Subtle caramel, light chocolate malt in the background. Sherry and vermouth notes are more balanced and restrained in the flavor. As the sip lingers, notes of vanilla and oak emerge.”

What our editors thought

“Faint red fruit, apple skin, cellar must, and sweet caramel notes in the aroma. Generally malt-forward with slight leather, a bit of pleasant oxidation, and an aged character.”

New Image Brewing Co Arcane Intent

“Earthy grassy-citrus and pine notes in the aroma blend with caramel, toffee, chocolate malt, a hint of boozy heat. In the sip, the barrel character’s tannic note accentuates the bitter hop elements.”

New Image Brewing Co 9505

“Enticing cinnamon, allspice, clove, dark chocolate, sweet raisin notes yield a remarkable nose. The flavor also delights with an almost Mexican hot-chocolate character. Smooth alcohol and a long rich finish. Outstanding!”

New Image Brewing Co Wood: Quercus Alba

“Sweet caramelized toffee in the nose with deep amber malt. Some hop bitterness in the flavor with sweet malt mixed with toffee and raisin notes. Fig and dates appear as it warms. Finishes as sweet as the flavors preceding it. As sweet as they come, but as enjoyable as a candied treat can be.”
