De Cam Geuzestekerij Oude Lambiek
Aroma: “Light apricot and lactic bite, with a touch of pineapple as it warms. Sweet-tart character comes through up front. Malty undertone, with a bit of wheat malt. Subtle Brett character brings in a pleasant bit of funk and stable-yard aroma.”
Flavor: “Moderately high acidity with a sharp Brett character. Slightly sweet citrus up front with earthy hay notes. Finishes a bit thin and dry, which may also be from the lower carbonation (nearly still). Dry apple character and pleasant tartness but a fairly soft palate. Bitterness (orange peel) lingers, along with sourness and a hint of sweet.”
Overall: “Dominating sharp Brett character with pleasant pineapple and apricot notes in the aroma and flavor. The moderate lingering sweetness is a nice counterpoint to the acidity. Overall a rather approachable and tasty gueuze/ lambic. A bit restrained on complexity or variety, but still well executed.”
