Pontoon Brewing Company Nightmare Fuel
“In England they have a dessert local to the county of Derbyshire called the Bakewell tart. It combines raspberries, almonds, and short-crust pastry, balancing sweetness and tartness. This beer is kind of like an Americanized, amped-up version of that, with plenty of sweet and juicy fruit flavor. The tartness is fairly assertive, and you can see why they softened it with some lactose. The execution on the fruit is fairly even handed, with raspberry up front holding the cherry at arm’s length and the currants giving the two their space. There’s a touch of vegetal from the berries, but this is a safe sour that delivers on expectations.”
