Founders Brewing Company Red’s Rye IPA
Aroma: “Pleasant hops aroma but slightly restrained for the style. Nice fruity citrus notes with a hint of pine. As it warms, additional notes of malt and rye spice become more prominent.”
Flavor: “A bright, intense bitterness up front quickly mellows without lingering. The rye is evident and wonderfully balanced. Hops bitterness is there, but the interplay of the malt bitterness is the star of the show. Finishes sweeter than others, not quite as crisp.”
Overall: “A very good rye IPA with an attractive appearance, well-presented rye grain, and just enough citrus and pine to complement and offset that hefty malt presence.”
