Marin Brewing Co. San Quentin's Breakout Stout

Aroma: “Sharp dark malt and chocolate roast emerge up front, followed by licorice and dark cherry notes. As it warms, the cherry notes really shine. Some coffee roast, with a little molasses, raisin, and apple sweetness.”

Flavor: “Wonderful malt complexity, with roasty burnt coffee flavor up front and dark sugar toast sweetness at the end. The creaminess really carries this beer well, and it coats the mouth. Notes of dry chocolate, with a touch of plum and molasses. Again, the dark cherry comes through in the mid- palate and finish.”

Overall: “This is a fantastic beer with a wonderful balance between fruit esters and malt complexity. The roast carries throughout and is balanced with malt sweetness and the cherry. It has a nice full body and a dry finish.”
