What the brewers say

Pre-Prohibition-style pils.

What our panel thought

Aroma of doughy malt and floral hops—hints of bitter herbs, both fresh and dried, hit some classic pilsner comfort centers. Flavor marries that grainy malt backbone to that herbal-floral hops flavor and bitterness—lemon-lime note rises as it warms—driving away to a crisp-finish honeymoon. Nicely knitted bittersweetness. Good pilsner—bitterness builds, as it should.

What our editors thought

Light, slightly doughy pilsner malt note in the nose backed with gentle herbal hops tastefully arranged for more nuance than focus. In the sip, an impeccable balance between lithe malt and finely honed herbal hops bitterness makes either hard to find, despite their presence. There's a particular sheen to it—worked over and over before it was buffed to a mirror polish—like the chrome bumper of a classic car that evokes nostalgia and quality without feeling too clinical.
