Square Mile Cider Company The Original
Aroma: “Green and sweet apple notes with a slight Riesling character. Bright and slightly soapy, but apple is there. A touch of mercaptans and match- head-like sulfur over a slight bit of brett sharpness with very light pear esters.”
Flavor: “Flavors are bit more simple than the aroma would suggest—very clean yeast profile, medium sweet finish works with the acid levels. Sulfur component gets bigger as it warms, but not off-putting. Apple is balanced by a touch of tartness. Flavor profile is to the dry side of medium and the finish is moderately tannic.”
Overall: “A tasty example of the simple side of cider. Not comically apple-juicy, the blend of acid and sweet work well for easy drinking. The bitterness in the midpalate and aftertaste is a bit heavy-handed. Distinct apple character is a bit low, but outside of the oxidation, this is a reasonable, mild cider.”
