Avery Brewing Company Uncle Jacob’s

Aroma: “Bourbon and vanilla dominate, with supporting notes of dark chocolate and cocoa with a nice malt sweetness as well. Sweet vanilla, toffee, nutty, and chocolate malt character. Oak quality adds complexity. Slight alcohol with umami, soy, and acid.”

Flavor: “Lots of bourbon and vanilla up front, with semisweet and dark chocolate, caramel malt sweetness, and a slight tannin in the finish to balance the sweetness. Sweet bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, and fig character with chocolate cocoa notes. Port quality adds great complexity as well. Noticeable soy sauce umami.”

Overall: “Huge, sticky, sweet, boozy stout that offers a lot of complexity. Barrel character is well showcased, as is the roasted malt character. Slow sipper with a lot going on, and something different with each sip. This one should be split with many friends for maximum enjoyment.”
