What the brewers say

“English-style barleywine aged in bourbon barrels, then again on amburana wood.”

What our panel thought

“Strong spice nose suggests cinnamon and clove, supported by light cherries and oak. The flavor is a journey that starts with earthy mulling spices and ends in a vinous, woody, faintly tart note. Barrel feels exotic and complex, like an ouzo or other herbal liquor.”

What our editors thought

“Cinnamon chocolate milk nose, creamy with subtle spice. The expectation of sweetness doesn’t materialize in the sip, thankfully, as bold woody bitterness plays against the softer sweet element.”
