Breakside Brewery Breakside Pilsner

What the brewers say

Traditional German-style lager with clean bitterness. Very light, crisp, and refreshing.

What our panel thought

Floral hop aroma with citrus hints and an evident but complementary minerality. On the palate, crackery malt character cuts through perfumey hop-bitterness. Light body, any unnecessary heft has been carved out. Extremely clean. Beautifully crafted.

What our editors thought

Softly fragrant dried-floral nose with a light, balanced mineral element. The sip dials back the bitterness a bit, but maintains a light feel and balance with tight but flavorful malt. A simple beer, but never boring.

Breakside Brewery Noble Pilsner

“Fluffy white head, dark yellow color, clear. Great toasty and biscuity malt aspect in both the aroma and flavor. Pleasant herbal spicy hop aromas. Hint of sulfur. A soft, slightly sweet impression is left on the palate followed by a tempering crisp bitterness. As it warms, more of a papery quality makes an appearance.”

pFriem Family Brewers Pilsner

Gentle but distinct floral-herbal hop nose marries sweet cracker-malt and a welcome whiff of sulfur. Lightly bready malt body amply supports perfume-like hop flavor and an ambitious but refined bitterness, all the way to a dry finish. Bold bitterness lingers. Hand me a full liter.

King Harbor Brewing Co Topside Pilsner

Classic, compelling aroma—a matrimony of perfume-like Noble hops, crackery malt, and pleasant minerality. That balance carries into the sip, with a back-and-forth between oyster-cracker malt and firm hop-bitterness that slashes any recollection of sweetness. Smoother than silk.
