Green Cheek Beer Company SoMa Aroma

What the brewers say

The aroma and flavor are ridiculous, with hits of kiwi, honeydew, cotton candy, grape, and Meyer-lemon oil.

What our panel thought

Impressive pillowy head. Aroma hits you with dried-ginger candy, spicy and dank. Complex flavor—tropical fruit, honeydew, pear, peach, apple. Low-key background bitterness. Distinct grassiness accentuates a dry finish.

What our editors thought

On the nose, hops push through with linen, white flower, guava, and kiwi. Irresistible. Despite the haze, the sip is distinctly dry, with a tightly controlled bitterness and not an ounce of flab. In the finish, a touch of aspirin-like bitterness throws it slightly off course.

Green Cheek Beer Company- Costa Mesa Happily Deceased

“Classic hop profile in the aroma: grapefruit, orange, pine, a bit of green onion, chives. A hint of bready malt. The flavor echoes the aroma. Moderate sweetness into moderate bitterness. Finish is quite dry, very clean. Modern take on a classic West Coast IPA.”

Green Cheek Beer Company- Costa Mesa Training Bines

“Subtle nose with lemon, papaya, pine, and a slightly sweet malt in the mix. The flavor has hints of hash, pineapple, mango, and orange candy, with a classic, clean malt profile that lingers behind the hops. Hop bitterness keeps the beer in the spectrum but well balanced.”

Roaring Table Brewing Tuba Solo

“Big pineapple, lime, and orange aroma with light vanilla and soft peach. Nicely layered solid hop punch of grapefruit, mango, guava, and a light edge of onion and diesel. A burst of hop flavors jumps across the palate on the first sip with a joyful energy. Very smooth, no burn. Soft malt backbone provides the canvas for the citrus and spicy hop flavors to shine and flow into the balanced finish. Easily begs you to take another sip and then order another one.”
