pFriem Family Brewers 2024 Druif Blanc
What the brewers say
“Riesling grapes from Brooks Estate Vineyard imbue Druif Blanc with notes of rose petals, pear, and green apple and a dry, sparkling finish.”
What our panel thought
“Splendid combination of tropical fruits and grapes. Surprisingly bright, with Hawaiian bread, grapefruit, white port. Pineapple and guava notes promise fleshy flavors and deliver them. Grains step to the side to allow yeast character to shine. A mild alcohol warming adds to the complexity, and the vigorous carbonation finishes the beer with a pleasant bite. Grapey more than winey, in the very best way.”
What our editors thought
“Expressive nose, with bits of passion fruit, guava, white grape, cut grass, spring herbs. Prickly, champagne-like, tight-bubble buzziness, but with a laid-back pét-nat funk. The sip is languid, as tropical fruit notes find structure with a light herbal edge, and the soft grape note resurfaces. Beautifully conceived, exquisitely structured, disarmingly lively.”
