West Coast IPA can’t be back—it never really left.
Whether it’s haze fatigue or just a long overdue surge in appreciation, we’ve seen rising interest among brewers—and our two recent West Coast IPA Now! podcasts (episodes 286 and 300) are among our most-downloaded episodes ever.
We hear you, and have more—including this video course from Jake Gardner, director of brewing operations at Colorado’s Westbound & Down. In the course, he lays out their detail-oriented approach to brewing West Coast–style IPAs that taste better, for longer.
Also from Westbound & Down, we have this homebrew-scale recipe for the West Coast–style IPA that won successive silver medals at the 2022 Great American Beer Festival, the 2023 World Beer Cup, and then again at the 2023 GABF. Brewed and dry-hopped with Mosaic and Strata, the brewery describes its flavors and aromas as “pineapple, strawberry, tangerine, and cantaloupe. Finishes dry, with a restrained bitterness.”
