Every year Colorado Malting Company invites their premier breweries, distilleries, and homebrewers out to the farm for a chance to meet the grain while it’s still in the field (and this year, to get the first look at their new expansion). In addition, everyone can tour the malt house as well as enjoy the harvest, and kick back with local music, local beer, and local food.

This year, “Gerste Gemutlichkeit” (Barley Party) will be held August 16 – 17 in Alamosa, Colorado. Hearty souls can take their campers, tents, and camp gear to stay all night in the field with the barley and wheat that will be in their beer or whiskey this coming year.

New this year is Colorado Malt Company’s Specialty Series, which offers a sneak peak into 100 percent Colorado beers. They are “taking beer back to its roots” with beers that are made with 100 percent of their ingredients from within a 30 mile radius. They will also be giving out the following awards:

  • Colorado Locally Minded Brewery of the Year
  • Colorado Locally Minded Distillery of the Year
