What it is: In a strip mall across from a Target, in San Diego’s Mira Mesa neighborhood, you will find a longstanding noodle bar. LHK (Luong Hai Ky) offers a range of Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, but the kicker is a draft list unlike any in the neighborhood. The 12 taps feature a mixed assortment not normally found in San Diego, with East Coast “hype” breweries alongside legacy West Coast breweries and local SoCal favorites.

Why it’s great: Not many noodle bars serve flights and host bottle shares, all paired with a full Chinese-Vietnamese menu. Want a congee with pork and preserved egg with a hazy IPA from Virginia’s The Veil? You got it. Want a comforting bowl of pho while trying some new San Diego brewery collabs? Can do. Every month or so, beer enthusiasts gather for an epic afternoon of wings, other appetizers, and big stouts. LHK Noodle Bar serves classic dishes without pretension, juxtaposed with a clever and refined beer menu—an alluring dynamic that combines a traditional, multigenerational restaurant with new food and drink trends.
