Good Word Brewing & Public House Day Fripper

What the brewers say

“Oak-smoked wheat lager.”

What our panel thought

“Rich aroma of beechwood-smoked malt. Palate follows up with a touch of banana peel. Pillowy and soft on the palate. Very well balanced and full for such a small beer. A beautiful expression of smoke.”

What our editors thought

“Strong oak smoke in the aroma, alluring and inviting with sweet vanilla undertones. More subdued in the flavor, as the very light beer finds just a hint of phenolic structure in the smoke without overpowering the more delicate malt notes. Masterfully balanced.”

Good Word Brewing & Public House There Will Be Days

“Brilliant yellow color with white foam. Initial burnt-sulfur aroma followed by white-grape must and black currant. Some wet, grassy herbaceous aromas fall behind. Balanced mouthfeel with just enough bitterness toward the end to make you want more. Finish is crisp and dry.”

Good Word Brewing & Public House Stověžatá

“Rich, sweet, round bready malt in the nose. Sweet malt in the flavor. Faint hint of ripe berries. Balance is slightly toward the sweetness with a very subdued bitterness. Incredibly soft and pillowy in the mouthfeel. Soft acidic, almost minerally, note lingers into a sweetish finish.”

Good Word Brewing & Public House Quantum Immortality

“Beautiful aroma of toasted caramel, light bread, earthy, herbal, grassy hops with a hint of grape. Smooth medium+ hop bitterness up front plays well with the sweet and toasty malt flavors. Moderately light body has a nice round character. Finishes medium dry. Well-balanced, very smooth, and delicious.”
