What the brewers say

“Only lightly roasty, allowing notes of coffee and cacao to intermingle with clean flavors of deeply toasted rustic bread crust.”

What our panel thought

“Subtle coffee and chocolate aroma, approachable but complex. Light-bodied, full of semisweet chocolate flavor. Hints dark fruit and herbal-spicy hops, but malt dominates. Balanced hops prevent it from being sweet without overpowering the malt. Really drinkable and enjoyable. I’d drink this pint after pint.”

What our editors thought

“Gorgeous chestnut-brown color. Light bread crust and chocolate-bread notes in the aroma, dialed back with a deft hand to the point of suggestion rather than declaration. The sip finds a comfortable middle ground, with a light but present Noble herbal flavor that brackets the semidry bready body. On net, it captures that elusive blend of flavor and drinkability, without ever appearing to try too hard.”
