Arches Brewing Simply Sticky IPA

What the brewers say

“Citra, Azacca, and Simcoe hops for some sticky and dank citrus flavor.”

What our panel thought

“Nose leans tropical, toward pineapple-banana daiquiri with danker edges. Lively medium body, nearly fluffy; has the sweetness to push that tropical-fruit flavor before a sticky and resinous bitterness seeps in. That unrelenting bitterness is challenging, making it feel disjointed.”

What our editors thought

“Heavily unfiltered, but not juicy, or sweet; the soft but present malt, light bitterness, and pithy tropical approach is more focused on tropical bitterness than fruity sweetness.”

2nd Shift Brewing Co Art of Neurosis

“The nose is dank and earthy, but fairly muted. Light floral, resin, and pineapple. Medium malt, high firm bitterness. The flavor pivots to a dark, resinous pine paired with a little toasty malt and resin, pepper, light diesel, and orange or grapefruit citrus. Bitterness builds in the aftertaste.”

American Solera I Wanna Talk About Mosaic

“Peppery tropical-fruit salad, melon, citrus, and pine say, ‘Drink me.’ Dank, earthy, and a bit vegetal in the aroma, with some subtle hints of garlic and chives. Sweet malt supports the peach and strawberry notes dancing in the background, while the soft bitterness blurs the line between juicy and West Coast.”

Finback Brewery BlueShift

“Pleasant aromatics of earthy berries mingle with the spicy aspects of the cinnamon to create the impression of tart-and-spicy blueberry oatmeal. It’s blueberry pie meets mulling spices to create a tart, spicy, yet fruity take on the kettle sour.”
