Bewilder Brewing Co Lord of the Ryes

What the brewers say

“Brewed with thre different ryes and select Chinook hops.”

What our panel thought

“Smells of dark chocolate, burnt sugar, molasses, and Nesquik. Quite sweet, with a milk-chocolate flavor, but finishes with a strong bitterness. The rye translates most evidently in the flavor, with the prominent spiciness, subtle roast character, and hop flavor taking center stage.”

What our editors thought

“Toasted-bread aroma with a touch of burnt crust. Chocolate muffin in the flavor, bouncy with an almost fluffy fullness and a light nutty finish.”

Bewilder Brewing Co Bewilder Weizenbock

“Heavy nutmeg and cinnamon character with rich toasted malt, cooked bananas, and a slightly sweet yet spicy alcohol finish. Some notes of simple sugar mixed with caramel, and a floral hop finish. Big dark-wheat malt with notes of banana bread.”

Bewilder Brewing Co Kolsch

“Aroma balances a slightly grainy malt with earthy hops and a touch of pear ester. Smells of waxy apples and caramel-drizzled bonbons. A grainy sweetness up front, but the finish is clean and clear, with a delicate bitterness.”

Bewilder Brewing Co Rice for the Cure

“Minty, herbacious aroma. Light sulfury hops, papaya, and melon with soft lime zest. Grassy-floral-hop flavors with a semidry finish. Low acids with notes of lemony melons. Quite crisp and refreshing, with lingering citrus-hop character.”
