Cerebral Brewing Common Ancestry

What the brewers say

"Golden sour base went into oak barrels with both of our house cultures, apricots, and nectarines."

What our panel thought

"Apricots steal the aroma show, but citrus and tropical notes appear as well. Light funk, like a recently cleaned barn. Soft, bright body across the palate with stone-fruit flavors. Lightly tart. So approachable."

What our editors thought

"Light lemony peach nose captures the culture and fruit in equal measure, with a refreshing yeast undertone. The sip starts strong with a bright low acidity, before the fruit morphs into a chalky and lightly acetic finish."

REVIEWS FOR YOU >

TRVE Brewing Co. Meditation is the Practice of Death

Rich fruit character, though not distinctly cherry; also Brett, wood, and earth. Lack of head suggests wine. Oak character adds pleasant light spiciness, with fruit fermentation esters; tart, with berry notes. Subtle yet complex.

Allagash Brewing Co. Coolship Red

Candy-like raspberry, hints of cherry, plum, leather and lemongrass—fruit-forward but earthy and funky. Tart raspberry and high acid create a slightly harsh but complex flavor. There is no hiding it being a fruit-forward sour beer. Finished very dry.

Smog City Brewing White Peach Saison

Fresh peaches, peach skin, raw pie crust in the aroma; a country kitchen in full swing. Low, pleasant acidity, hitting Brett notes as fresh, juicy peach carries through. Restrained acidity, dry and pleasant finish. Approachable for any level of beer drinker.
