What the brewers say

“Vermont ale yeast helps accentuate the hops with passion fruit and pineapple notes.”

What our panel thought

“Citrus notes of lemon, orange, and tangerine meld with some fresh tropical notes of passion fruit and pineapple to create a nose that comes across bright and lively. Juicy fruit flavor with watermelon juice, citrus, and berry, but the bigger body doesn’t allow them to shine.”

What our editors thought

“Creamy citrus in the nose—orange and lemon—with a floral blossom note. The sip dials back typical West Coast bitterness just a bit too far, for an accessible fruit-forward appeal at the expense of structure.”

Alvarado Street Mai Tai P. A.

Muted aromas of tropical fruit. Very tropical and bright flavors fill the mouth with rushes of pineapple, pas-sion fruit, and kiwi. Low-to-medium bitterness throughout with a soft finish showcasing the hops flavors. Al-most like a clear NEIPA.

Alvarado Street Brewery DeLorean Dust

“Dank and earthy aromatics with hints of diesel, pine, onion. Sip leans sweet early but fades into a dank and piney bitterness that lingers into the finish. Some mango-forward hops. Such a soft mouth and overall cohesiveness with such a big beer!”

Dust Bowl Brewing Co. Dust Bowl Change Order

__Aroma:__ “Really interesting malt character that comes off as sweet but with almost a lacto element. Dank and catty, assertive aromas challenge the drinker. The challenge is rewarded. Light citrus notes expressed as the beer warms. Flavor: “Light body and moderate bitterness help showcase the citrus and melon hop character, with some cattiness present. Malt is there that provides an interesting sweetness balance point. Mouthfeel is somewhat sticky. Overall: “Wonderful dank challenging aroma, but the flavor is more traditional. Well balanced, but not inspiring.
