Epic Brewing Brainless Belgian-style Golden Ale

What the brewers say

“Complex malt flavors and strong influences of fermentation esters from the Belgian yeast.”

What our panel thought

“Spicy nose with some warming hints. Rich malt with light fruit, candy sugar, white-pepper notes. Hop character is an afterthought. Gets more interesting as it warms. Finish is sweeter and softer than a typical golden strong, but it’s still very pleasant.”

What our editors thought

“Welcoming toasty-malt note in the aroma with a bit of hay and distant fruit. Gorgeous silky flavor with a slight ethanol edge.”

Epic Brewing Barley Wine Ale

“Classic American-hop profile on the nose: orange peel, earthy, some pine. Hints of caramel, toffee. Sip has a healthy pine and orange bitterness balanced by a boozy caramel sweetness. Some spicy warmth emerges in the finish.”

Epic Brewing Brainless on Peaches

“Sweet candy on the nose with subdued peach fruitiness. Divulges its peach essence in the flavor—grilled peaches, delicate smoke and oakiness, apricot. Finishes very well balanced.”

Epic Brewing Milk Stout

“Bittersweet chocolate and coffee on the nose; quite clean. Very smooth mouthfeel, reminiscent of an espresso with just a layer of milk foam. The dark malt chocolate and coffee flavors take center stage while the milk sugar supports. A pinch of cola and some coffee notes in the flavor. Brings to mind Jelly Belly’s cappuccino-flavored jelly beans. Aftertaste is filled with creamy coffee flavors. Overall, it’s a very drinkable, well-balanced milk stout with just enough of a bittersweet punch.”
