Firestone Walker Brewing Co Double Mind Haze

What the brewers say

“Original Mind Haze hops are now joined by Strata, Sabro, Idaho Gem, Idaho 7, and Motueka.”

What our panel thought

“Compelling nose with notes of bubblegum, cotton candy, tangerine, and orange peel. Soft, elegant, cloud-like body. Flavors of orange, tangerine, and grapefruit with just a bit of diesel and pepper. Finish mostly dry, with a nice drop off in hop flavor.”

What our editors thought

“Light tangerine, orange, and general tropical notes. In the sip, an amorphous, generally sweet, broadly fruity character doesn’t lean on individual hops for distinct notes, but blends everything into a fruit-salad mixing bowl.”

Firestone Walker Brewing Co Mind Haze

“Cotton-candy and grape notes in the nose, with hints of perfume and light floral. Flavor profile is light but fleeting. A wash of chalkiness strips away much of the nuance. As the finish lingers, hints of pine and citrus emerge. APA body encased in hops.”

Firestone Walker Mind Haze

The pleasant citrus hops aroma has a bit of fresh-squeezed character. In the flavor, this picks up a creami-ness reminiscent of Orange Julius. Some mild pine notes come through. The malt supports this without get-ting too cloying, softening the mild bitterness in the finish.

Firestone Walker Brewing Co Mind Haze Brain Melter Hazy Imperial IPA (01-03-24)

“Aroma of lemongrass, orange, lemon, strawberry, pine, grapefruit. Flavor notes of candied orange, lemon, tangerine, grapefruit balanced by pine, cedar, hint of green pepper. Bitterness extends lightly into the finish.”
