Firestone Walker Brewing Co Gen-5

What the brewers say

“Flavors of canned peach, white grape, pineapple juice, strawberry Starburst, prickly pear, and orange.”

What our panel thought

“Cannabis and mango hops in the nose. Not delicate, but interesting and a bit unique. Finish is bitter for the style, but incredibility soft. Not quite West Coast aggressive, but hearkening to some of those sensibilities.”

What our editors thought

“Tropical fruit and spicy tropical bitterness in equal measure. Soft but snappy, sweet guava but pithy, loose but well-defined—it’s a study in delicious tropical contrast.”

North Park Beer Co. Inversion of Time

“Dank-forward aromatics with sweet tropical-fruit undertones. In the sip, a supportive dose of pine and booze to balance. Some sweet heat stays fairly well-hidden. Maintains balance thanks to a supportive malt structure and soft mouthfeel.”

Alvarado Street Brewery DeLorean Dust

“Dank and earthy aromatics with hints of diesel, pine, onion. Sip leans sweet early but fades into a dank and piney bitterness that lingers into the finish. Some mango-forward hops. Such a soft mouth and overall cohesiveness with such a big beer!”

O'Connor Brewing Proper Lager

An inviting aroma full of sulfury floral hops gives way to a light, clean, crisp, and easy-drinking beer with enough malty sweetness to complement the drying bitterness of the hops. Its clean lager profile and bright carbonation coupled with its light body make it easy to go back for another sip.
