Fonta Flora Brewery Pap Pap's Salted Lager

What the brewers say

“Dortmunder-style lager bier blended with ancient Appalachian sea salt.”

What our panel thought

“Moderately bitter citrus in the aroma and flavor with a nice minty, herbal hop aroma. Peppery spice emerges mid-sip. Creamy, almost oat-like body, with peppery spice hop flavors. Lightly soapy with a clean and quick dry finish. The creamy mouthfeel sets it apart. In a rather conservative field, it takes chances and offers something different without losing the context.”

What our editors thought

“Lavender and rosemary notes offer sweetness and spice. The sip is comforting, familiar malt with a vaguely American Noble-like bitterness.”

Fonta Flora Brewery The Pearl

“A bit sweeter with more esters than expected for a pils, but quite drinkable. Light hints of floral and pine hide behind dank and musty notes in the aroma. Just a hint of wood-like character. Oddly crisp and finishes on the sweeter side of bitter.”

Lawson's Finest Liquids Aged Winter Lager

“Dark roast with licorice and chocolate, plus an orange blossom–honey note. Spicy on the tongue, enhanced by strong alcohol notes. Light black pepper notes and some evergreen notes add beautiful distinctive highlights.”

Fonta Flora Brewery BZZZZ

“Big resiny aroma with grapefruit, dank herbs. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel finish semi-dry. Flavors explode with dank, candied tangerine, herbs. Medium alcohol warmth. Low carbonation, relatively low bitterness leave the beer bordering on cloying.”
