Foothills Brewing Jade IPA

What the brewers say

“Citrusy Pacific Jade hops lend tropical-fruit notes and a hint of peppery finish. Dry-hop additions of Chinook and Citra.”

What our panel thought

“Peach ring candy dominates the aroma. Light orange and apricot dance beneath with a light bread crust and honey. Moderate apricot and peach notes in the flavor add to a tropical papaya/guava character that sits on top of a low bread-crust malt. Smooth moderate bitterness balances malt sweetness.”

What our editors thought

“Wood paneling, orange zest, leather—refined with a classic well-worn air. Comfortable, and embodies a certain sophistication.”

Foothills Brewing Jade IPA

**Aroma:** “Citrus, orange, nice juicy fruit notes with biscuit sweetness. Lemon, thyme, pine, and a faint grainy sweetness. Floral honey.” **Flavor:** “Intriguing sweetness and juicy fruit character in this beer. Nice citrus notes of orange, grapefruit, and lemon. The bitterness is measured with the malt and hops sweetness for a delicate, delightful malt backbone. Floral honey and lime citrus notes up front—a very different profile than what we have had so far. Almost a light acidic note with a touch of salt reminiscent of a gose. Dry aftertaste with medium bitterness that intertwines with that acidity.” **Overall:** “A very enjoyable IPA—fruity, juicy, and avorful. Spritzy, playful, and fun. It delights the senses while remaining drinkable. Big citrus notes with lemon and lime with a slight acidic note that is complementary not distracting. Unique combo of citrus and acidity helps it stand out in a crowded field.”

Firestone Walker Brewing Co Mind Haze

“Cotton-candy and grape notes in the nose, with hints of perfume and light floral. Flavor profile is light but fleeting. A wash of chalkiness strips away much of the nuance. As the finish lingers, hints of pine and citrus emerge. APA body encased in hops.”

Resident Culture Radical Empathy

Sulfur-driven nose collides with spirited peppery hops; notes of pine and perfume. Flavor delivers on that bold promise: equal parts floral and spicy while also cleanly crisp. Finish pushes the bitterness envelope but carefully avoids harshness with a touch of malt sweetness. Extremely drinkable.
