Green Cheek Beer Company- Costa Mesa Playing It Loud

What the brewers say

“DDH hazy double IPA with Citra, Mosaic, Motueka, and Strata.”

What our panel thought

“Overwhelming impression of bright citrus, with a dank touch and sneaky alcohol. Medium bitterness for the style; a citrus-guava hop profile leads the flavor experience. Sweetness enhances the fruit, but just a bit too sweet. Mouthfeel is light but well attenuated. Approachable, enjoyable.”

What our editors thought

“Soft orange and guava in the nose. The sip is curiously structured, with subtle but present bitterness, smooth and balancing despite significant sweetness. Artful and compelling.”

Green Cheek Beer Company- Costa Mesa Happily Deceased

“Classic hop profile in the aroma: grapefruit, orange, pine, a bit of green onion, chives. A hint of bready malt. The flavor echoes the aroma. Moderate sweetness into moderate bitterness. Finish is quite dry, very clean. Modern take on a classic West Coast IPA.”

Green Cheek Beer Company- Costa Mesa Training Bines

“Subtle nose with lemon, papaya, pine, and a slightly sweet malt in the mix. The flavor has hints of hash, pineapple, mango, and orange candy, with a classic, clean malt profile that lingers behind the hops. Hop bitterness keeps the beer in the spectrum but well balanced.”

King Harbor Brewing Co Permanent Vacation

“Piña colada–like nose with equal parts pineapple and coconut/vanilla and hints of ginger. A very light bready wheat character supports the aroma. Very light floral hops and low hop bittering. Clean and tropical.”
